USSA on bFFM
So last night was the Fancy New Bands Showcase at the King's Arms. I assume it went alright... Through the foldback all I could hear was my guitar wailing out the mistakes of fat fingers across skinny frets.
It was broadcast live on bFM, if anyone knows of any recordings of it I'd be interested to hear it.
Anyway, no other news. I'm in the process of writing an epic poem, working-titled Victorian Wasteland. PSYchic Jams continue to rock my shit.
Cassettes coming soon... Blue/Red split with the Freudoids and a Lilac/Yellow split with Parents (probable).

Recording.
We recorded in the weekend, shit was mad real. Everyone was downing Jack Daniels and cocaine, I'm telling you shit was so mad real I could barely believe it myself. I've never seen so much Cristal getting poured all over the floor, on my amp and guitar. So crazy I can hardly relate it to you.
We've got a 'pre-mix' to display on our myspace http://www.myspace.com/theussatheussatheussatheussa
It's like a smooth as fuck Gordon's Gin and Tonic with a twist of lemon. served over ice in a highball glass with a bendy straw. fuckin' class.
The actual mastering will be taking place as soon as possible. Mr Shane Warbrooke is on the ball; he is a master craftsman of rock.
(my guitar is gonna be more hardout sounding when you buy the album off smokecds.com)

This is What is Up.
So um...
Basically someone is trying to kill us again.
Genes mutate inside laboratories, instigated by scientists, funded by drug companies. Who get to sell their 'remedies' to the problems they create.

We made a ton of money. It's getting invested back into the band, so we hope to record in about a month.
Look out for a limited edition Cassette Tape with an online download.. Maybe. Who knows?
No shows until Rhiannon's Birthday - May 9th at Whammy Bar.
Until then we'll be smoking cannabis and writing poetry.

Free Sanger from Work.
Pretty shit, but the price was right ($free).
The chef at work is more of a glorified deep fryer. His sandwiches are leftover roasted vegetables stacked between two slices of white and one piece of brown bread in the middle. The main flavours are balsamic vinegar and herbs.

Thanking you in Advance.
Mr Key.
For my new fatter paycheck! Oh yeah! I'll be one of the thousands of earners out there cashing in my extra $18 a week, stimulating the economy and feeling super secure that Mr Key is leading us into a new era of financial well-being.
Oops I forgot, that $18 was a made-up figure (remember - National promised $50 a week as opposed to Labour's $32 before the election). In actuality, I will have zero more dollars in my pay packet. Fuck, that is so much fatter! Wow! Middle New Zealand - when you prosper, so do I!
Next time I'm voting ACT, maybe they can promise a bigger increase and not deliver on that one either, 'cos that's what expected of politicians.
Mr Key, you've had your turn.

That which is beautiful never goes unpunished.
Saturday. I'm drunk and stoned. It's night time. St Kevin's Arcade - and there it is. Above me, high in the balcony that fades away from my blurry vision like a static image of Mt Fuji done by a third-form English student... Two Asian males begin to kiss. The kisser (for they truly are a kisser and a kissee) is adorned in a grey suit and capped with a head of greying hair. His prey (although the relationship is perhaps less predatory than I am allowing myself to describe) is younger - maybe 35, semi-professional. He backs away at first, is slightly taken aback when the older male tries to force himself onto him, yet relents. And this image, these two males wrestling with each other for attention and companionship and maybe a little sex, is absolutely beautiful.
There's something in the freedom in which these two revel that I adore - and it's a freedom we often take for granted. Imagine; the idea of homosexuality is barely entertained in your culture... you grow up, work as hard as you possibly can, take a wife and pump out one child (preferably a male). Even with the rosiness of Socialist Sympathies, this is a fairly bleak picture. But not an uncommon one - for much is bleak in the modern world. I digress - and so these two males, on their working holiday to New Zealand, drunk from the free-flowing nozzle of booze and liberty, are above me. Pashing. There is so much to love in this scenario - the carelessness and freedom they must feel in this country, this city, this street, this bar, allows them to indulge in a practice in the open air that is everything that they want to do. These two are more free in that moment than we are in most of our lives. Social constrictions, censorship, 'morality' and 'values'.. all torn asunder, ripped out from beneath them like the undoing of a rope ladder across a gorge.
Freedom is something we should all aim for, and it is our responsibility to ensure that each of us is free to aim for their own freedom without being held back by others' freedom. In short, our pursuit of freedom should never compromise another persons pursuit of freedom.
Till then... Pash away, ye Asian sons of the night.

Black Pepper.
I'll carry a little
Darkness

Black Pepper
You're the white sugar
To my Black Pepper
Coffee only makes it taste better

Cannabis sativa and its derivatives are strictly prohibited in Turkey, and the natural correlative of this prescription is that alcohol, far from being frowned upon as it is in other Moslem lands, is freely drunk; being a government monopoly it can be bought at any cigarette counter. This fact is no mere detail; it is of primary social importance, since the psychological effects of the two substances are diametrically opposed to each other. Alcohol blurs the personality by loosening inhibitions. The drinker feels, temporarily at least, a sense of participation. Cannabis abolishes no inhibitions; on the contrary, it reinforces them, pushes the individual further back into the recesses of his own isolated personality, pledging him to contemplation and inaction. It is to be expected that there should be a close relationship between the culture of a given society and the means used by its members to achieve release and euphoria. For Judaism and Christianity the means has always been alcohol; for Islam it has been hashish. The first dynamic in its effects, the other static. If a nation wishes, however mistakenly, to Westernize itself, first let it give up hashish. The rest will follow, more or less as a matter of course. Conversely, in a Western country; if a whole segment of the population desires, for reasons of protest, to isolate itself in a radical fashion from the society around it, the quickest and surest way is for it to replace alcohol with cannabis.

SUP IM DRUNK

www.myspace.com/theussatheussatheussatheussa
Actually I'm not drunk yet. I'm going to smoke hashish tonight and write all about it tomorrow. But it will probably read like something out of Playboy. the articles, not the sexy pictures.
Check out our MiSpazio for a demo of a song. I don't even play guitar on it. I don't even play guitar in this band, really. It's just Dan going through two amps.
We're going to do a couple covers at our first show.
BorderLine FestiVal at Wine Cellar, 12th of April. Come and sing along to some Crazy Town and Linkin Park 2001 steez. Srsly.
